A drowned valley and a town that remembers
When the dam on the Trebišnjica was raised in 1967, the water covered a valley full of life — Roman Leusinium, villages and roads. The stećci were relocated to the new shore, and Bileća remained to keep the story of all that lies beneath the surface. The history of this region reaches into prehistory: over 1,400 tumuli and hillforts bear witness to thousands of years of continuous life.
