Somovijada is one of the oldest competitive fishing events in the region, and besides the lake, the Vrijeka river hides a special delicacy — gaovica, a fish that emerges from underground cave springs each spring and autumn. Cyclists gather every year for the "Lake Tour", a ride around Bileća Lake that has become a favourite way to experience the whole shoreline on two wheels.
