Spiritual Heritage

The cathedral church in the very centre of Bileća, on Kralja Aleksandra street, was built with stone from the surrounding area and consecrated in 1896. Dedicated to Saint Sava, the spiritual and educational patron of the Serbian people, it is the town's central place of worship and the site of the annual Savindan celebration, the municipal patron-saint day.

Dobrićevo Monastery ranks among the most significant Serbian medieval monasteries, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary. It originally stood beside the Trebišnjica River, and in 1967 was relocated to its present site in the village of Orah, about 12 km south of Bileća on the shore of Bileća Lake, ahead of the flooding of the old valley.

This small church was built in the late 1990s on an island in the middle of Bileća Lake, on an unusual construction raised on pillars above the water level. It is a recognisable symbol of the lake and one of the most photographed spots in the whole area.

This single-nave church of stone blocks with a stone-tile roof stands in the Trnov Do valley, about 50 metres below the Bileća–Gacko road. It is believed to have been built before 1389, and was reconstructed in 1795 and 1984. It was designated a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006.

Also known as the "Small Church," it stands in Bileća's old town centre. It was built in 1938 in the Byzantine style and consecrated on Vidovdan — a date deeply woven into the historical and spiritual memory of the region.

Built within the "Bilećki borci" barracks as a memorial to soldiers who fell in the 1991–1995 war, this church was consecrated in 2000 and serves as a place of remembrance and spiritual gathering for members of the armed forces.

In the village of Prijevor near Bileća stand the remains of a church that, according to tradition, is linked to Hasan-paša Predojević from the 15th century. Carved symbols are visible on the remains — crosses, crescents and suns — testimony to the intertwined religious and cultural history of the region.

Standing in the very centre of Bileća, it was built in 1895 on the foundations of an older mosque. It is a single-space mosque by design and an important monument of the town's Ottoman heritage.

Located in the village of Plana, it was built in 1617. Destroyed during the war, it was rebuilt in 2013 and today once again serves as a gathering place for the village's Muslim community.

Located in the settlement of Grabovice, it was, according to tradition, built by Hasan-paša Predojević in 1572. It is notable for a rare architectural feature — a square minaret. It was registered as a cultural monument in 1952, although it is not currently in use.

In the village of Davidovići stands a medieval stone cross about 2.5 metres tall, part of a wider medieval necropolis with stećci (medieval tombstones). This rare monument bears witness to the spiritual life of the region in the Middle Ages.
