The Avdić Mosque, located in the village of Plana, was built as far back as 1617 and for centuries was the spiritual centre of the area's Muslim community. It was destroyed during the war in the 1990s and rebuilt in 2013 thanks to contributions from villagers and descendants scattered around the world.
The village of Plana is, according to tradition, the place of origin of the family of renowned director Emir Kusturica, which gives this small mosque added symbolic weight in the story of identity and a return to one's roots.
