Leusinium (Panik)
A Roman municipium flooded in 1967 by the dam — the story of the lost city is preserved in the Bileća Heritage Collection.
Leusinium was a Roman municipium situated in the Trebišnjica valley, at the site of today's Bileća Lake. During Roman rule (1st–4th century) it was an important administrative and economic centre of this region. With the raising of the Grančarevo dam in 1967, the remains of the ancient city were submerged, and material evidence of its existence is preserved in the Heritage Collection.
The Bileća Heritage Collection preserves objects found in archaeological research of Leusinium and surrounding sites — coins, ceramics, jewellery and stone inscriptions. The museum allows visitors to learn about the rich ancient history of the region that is literally hidden beneath the water.
