Kosijerevo Monastery

A 14th-century medieval monastery, relocated in 1966 to Petrovići near Nikšić ahead of the Trebišnjica valley being flooded by Bileća Lake.
Kosijerevo Monastery was founded in the first half of the 14th century, according to tradition during the reign of Tsar Stefan Dušan, on the right bank of the Trebišnjica. The monastery church is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
With the construction of the Grančarevo dam and the formation of Bileća Lake, the monastery's original site ended up underwater, so in 1966 the whole complex was relocated to the village of Petrovići in Banjani, in present-day Montenegro. Although now outside the Bileća municipality, the monastery remains part of the shared story of the valley the lake covered.
